Zachary Proctor

Life is not about attaining, but rather becoming. Proctor believes that out of the depths of our souls comes the desire to seek the divine. Proctor was born in 1976 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He went onto study at the University of Utah, studying under David Dornan, and eventually earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in 2002. Proctor has participated in numerous shows at the Springville Museum. At the museum he has earned merit awards on his pieces two years in a row. As a painter Zachary Proctor is interested in contemporary realism, and his subject matter extends itself to ideas that evoke an emotion as well as a visual awakening. Proctor is fascinated with the idea of taking a two-dimensional surface and creating spatial depth, bringing the canvas to life. Everyday that Proctor enters his studio he anticipates the possibility of creating an emotional and visual awakening for the viewer.
